How Does The Atal Pension Yojana Work?

Atal Pension Yojana is a pension scheme principally intended for the unorganized sector like maids, delivery persons, gardeners, etc. The purpose of this is to guarantee that no Indian citizen has to be anxious about sickness, accidents, or old age, providing a sense of security.
You can apply for the scheme at all bank CSP providers named by the Government.

Even private-sector employees can apply for the scheme. The scheme provides an option of receiving a pre-decided pension on completing the age of 60. The retirement will be decided depending on the individual's age, and the amount contributed.

The contributor's spouse can also claim the pension upon the former's death. Upon the death of both the pensioner and their spouse, a nominee will be granted the accumulated corpus. If a contributor dies before the age of 60, their spouse will be given an option to exit scheme and claim the corpus.
The monthly contribution is based on the amount of pension the applicant expects to receive following their retirement and the age at which they begin to contribute. The accumulated amount under the programme is administered by the Pension Funds Regulatory Authority of India (PFRDA).

Are you eligible for the Atal Pension Yojana?
To avail the benefits allowed under the Atal Pension Yojana, the applicant must fulfil the following requirements:
1. You must be an Indian citizen.
2. You must possess a valid mobile number.
3. You must be between the ages of 18-40.
4. You should contribute for at least 20 years.
5. You must possess a bank account linked with Aadhar.

The Atal Pension Yojana Scheme does not have a closing date for application. Submit your appeal before June 1st to join the scheme for the upcoming year. The programme is renewed every year on June 1st.
